I love spending time checking out cafes around town. It’s one of my favorite pastimes. I’m lucky that living in Kyoto there are countless great spots where I can spend my off days reading a book over a healthy meal. I’ve been wanting to start a blog about cafes in Kyoto for a while. But nothing turns into action until…
One of my close friends, Maki quit her job.
Maki and I have been friends for more than 4 years. The fact that she has lived in Canada for 5 years and speaks fluent Canadian English has initiated the bonding between us. Moreover, we both share the interest in living a happier and healthier life. So I asked her,
“Maki, why don’t we start a bilingual café blog together?”
That’s the beginning of our Eat Dream Kyoto project.
I can see the same attitude toward life in Maki and myself. We are those who spend a lot of time listening to our own inner voices, we don’t surrender to others’ expectations. We both want to live a life of meanings.
We came up with the name of the blog “Eat Dream Kyoto”. We don’t want to just blog about food, moreover, we want to hear the stories behind these cafes and to inspire others to live the life of their dreams.
The blog will be in English and Japanese. Maki will take care of the Japanese part and I will work on the English. We give each other the freedom to express our own unique opinions so our writings won’t be entirely the same. We hope to reach out to anyone who share the same interests, no matter if you are a local or a traveler to the graceful Kyoto.
The blog is planned to be updated twice a month on both Maki and my own blogs. We will also keep a Facebook page, if you’re interested, please give us your “Like”. Find us at “Eat Dream Kyoto”.
